Blessed Mary or Blessed Doers of God’s Word!!
And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”

But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”………. Luke 11:27-28
In our last study, we considered the Parable of the midnight friend who came visiting. We noted that we are to approach God in prayer for the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we might be able to bless those who come around us who are in need. We also noted that it requires Perseverance in prayer and that our God is a good Father who will never give us a Wrong Spirit if we have asked Him for the Holy Spirit. Here, we read of a small incident which have great significant for us even this day. We read of a woman being taken up with Mary instead of the Lord.
And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”: Here is a woman who was listening to the teachings of the Lord and was so excited with the ways Jesus was interpreting and explaining God’s word to them that she couldn’t but shout. She said, “blessed is the womb that bore You and the breast which nursed You” To say blessed is your mother is what this Woman essentially said. She said, “Jesus Lord, blessed is your mother Mary!!!” indeed, Many is blessed for having been chosen as the Mother of Jesus. And we must acknowledge that. But are we to idolize Her? Are we to be taken up with Her? Are we to reverence and worship her as some Christian group is doing? Let us therefore what the Lord has to say about this.
But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”: Jesus said, “on the Contrary, blessed are those Who hear God’s word and obey it”. The hearer and doer of God’s word are the really blessed ones not Mary. It is amazing how the Holy Spirit has placed this right in the middle of Scripture as a warning for people who are taken up with Jesus mother instead of obeying God’s word as Jesus himself has  said.

We must take serious heed to ourselves lest we be taken up with human attachments that has been a blessing to us instead obedience to God’s word. We must never place any man above what God has said in His Word. There are many even together who are excited about their Preacher and those in whom they are related to. You hear them saying, “So and so Person is my Pastor” They glory in the godly men they are associated with. This count for nothing in the Kingdom of God. What is important is obedience to what God’s word says. I have seen people who choose to obey and magnify what their Preacher says more than what God’s word says and they think they are blessed. A very simple example is, Imagine your Preacher says, “Pray that all your enemies are destroyed in Jesus name” and You know that God’s word says, “Bless Your enemies”. What do you do? This is a little test to know who you considered greater.

Another thing I have noted is Preachers saying, “Believe the Word of God’s Prophets and you shall prosper”. Very Good and correct!!! But we must always cross check if the words of such Prophets does not contradicts what God has spoken in His Word.

Let us therefore  get our priorities right. Those who obey God’s word are the Truly blessed ones. Not even those who preach to us or hear His Word. Obedience is the principal thing.
Dear Friend, Today marks the middle of the Year 2017. So much have been taught, many aspects of our Christian lives have been touched. Obedience is the principal thing. Don’t get taken up with Man, instead, be taken up with the study and obedience to what God has said in His Word. Joshua 1:8 says, ” This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. May the Lord give us Grace to hear and obey His Words in Jesus name(Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
#Everyday with Jesus.
