Forgiven Little or Much?!!!
Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. ” Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”…… Luke 7:44-50
In our previous Study, we were considering the parable that Jesus spoke when the Pharisee that invited Him to eat began to judge the Woman that came to anoint and wash Jesus’ feet. We noted from the Parable that those who realizes how much the Lord has Forgiven them Love Him more and those who feel the Lord has Forgiven Little Loves Little. Today, we shall be considering three signs that a Man or woman who has been Forgiven Much by the Lord will display.
Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. : First of All, those who recognize How much the Lord has Forgiven offer their body as a living sacrifice to the Lord(Romans 12:1). This woman offered the hair of her head which was her glory as a sacrifice to the Lord. The Glory she had became rag in the presence of Jesus. Those who are aware of how much they have been Forgiven lose sight of the things they once cherished. Her Hair which was Precious to her before became a Rag for the feet of the Lord. If we realize how much the Lord has Forgiven us, we will not withhold any part of our bodies for His use.
You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. : I can imagine how dirty the feet of Jesus could be because the roads are very dusty. But Yet, it was said that she kept kissing Jesus feet. Here is a Woman who is not concern about her health. Kissing a dirty feet could lead to taking in germs but this woman did not care. Those who love the Lord have little concern about Sickness. They believe that the Lord can take care of their bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:13 says, ” Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” If we have given our body to the service of the Lord, the Lord will also be for our body to prevent us from Sickness according to His perfect will. So I see this woman has a person who is not afraid of Sickness. I perceive she was saying like Esther, “If I perish, I perish!!!”
You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil: Another thing we see in this woman was that She gave up her money in getting this Fragrant Oil. If the Lord can get our bodies, then giving our money for His services becomes easy. Only those who have offered their bodies as a living sacrifice to the Lord are permitted to bring money for His work. If you are not willing to offer your bodies to the Lord, forget your money!!! The Lord is not interested in it. Honestly, it is more difficult to offer our body to the Lord than our money. Which one is easier, between “Not Lusting with Your Eyes and Putting Money inside the offering box?”. Let us therefore offer our bodies to the Lord first if we want our monies to be acceptable before the Lord.
Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little. ” Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”: How do we know if our many sins have been Forgiven? According to the passage, it is that we will Love much. The only prove to show that God has Forgiven us so much is by Loving Him Much. We may ask ourselves, “Is there anyone who can say,,’ I have been Forgiven Little?, Is there anyone in the World who can say, ‘God has only Forgiven Me Little?'” There is absolutely No one!!! All of us have been Forgiven Millions and Millions of Sins. But the awareness is different. Some think they have been Forgiven Little while some are aware that they have been Forgiven Much. In particular, those who have not committed Sins like Murder, Abortion, fornication etc always look down on those who have failed in these areas and think that they have committed Little Sins. The extent of Love will have for the Lord is an indication of how much we think He has Forgiven us. Let us therefore never forget How much we have been Forgiven and let it be a driving motivation to our service for the Lord.
And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” : This is one proof that Jesus is God. Only God can forgive Sin. And Jesus as God forgave people’s Sins even before He went to the Cross.
Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace: Jesus was so quick to respond to Devotion. Though this woman was despised because She was a Sinner, but we see Jesus responding to Her. Again and again in the Gospel we have seen Jesus responding to those whom the religious leaders of His day despise. Jesus is the same today, it is those who are despised that He respond to because in them, He sees sincerity, Humility and faith. It is not those who are the biggest in Christian world that are great in God’s eyes. To be great and accepted in Christian world today is not an indication that You are great in God’s eyes. What God Looks for is faith!!! Hebrews 11:6 says, ” But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” if You seek after the Lord in Faith, you can go anywhere in Peace.
Dear Friend, How much have You been Forgiven? Little or Much? If You say Much, then why do you love Him Little? Is It the case that You have forgotten so soon? Do you still find it difficult to offer Your eyes, mouth, ears, energy, passion, money etc to the Lord? This is not correct my friend. Why not spend the rest of your life in appreciation for all the Sins that the Lord has Forgiven You? Remember, “He who is Forgiven Little Loves Little, and He who is Forgiven Much Loves Much” Have You been Forgiven Little or Much? “. May the Lord give us Light on ourselves that we may see How much He has Forgiven Us(Amen). God bless You. Have a blessed day.
