Arise Young Man!!! Arise!!!
Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.  When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”  So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region….. Luke 7:11-17.
In our previous study, we considered how Jesus delivered a Man who was Demon-possessed staying in the synagogue at Capernaum. Today, we shall consider a very short story of how Jesus raised the Only Son of a Widow in the city of Nain.
Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. .: Jesus was never tired of doing good to people. Everyday is a day of doing good to people. This particular Miracle was done a day after healing the Roman Centurion’s Servant. We must learn from Jesus never to get weary in doing good to people. As long as it is called “Today”, We will always see people around us who are in need. If we have a Heart that wants to Help others, the Holy Spirit will always lead us to places where we would be of help. So let us therefore be sensitive like our Master who was always seeking for places where He could be a blessing to others.

Notice, wherever the Lord goes, His Disciples followed. Those who say they are Christ Disciples and go to places He will never go are only deceiving themselves. Those who seek to be Learners and Followers of Jesus must always look at the footprints of Jesus everywhere they go.
And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her: Oh How wicked Death is!!! This Younger Man was the Only Son of this Poor Widow, yet Death has decided to take Him. This must have been the Man who was taking care of this Woman yet Death in is unreasonableness decided to take this man. We can apply this Spiritually, When Spiritual death cripples into a Man, it makes Him a Sorrow to those who He could have been of Help to. When Sin takes over a Man’s Life, He because an object of Sorrow to His Family.
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” : This Woman did not call on Jesus for Help but Yet Jesus had compassion on Her. Our God is full of Compassion. All the Miracles Jesus did was out of Compassion. We were saved because He had compassion towards us. We were not the one that chose God, rather He was the one that chose us. We were all dead in our Sins. There is no way we would have chosen Jesus in such a dead Condition. It was in His Pity and Compassion that He Looked upon us as we journey to grave. It was in His Goodness that He has granted to us a heart that wants to Repent. It is all as a result of His compassion. And the More we become Like Jesus, the more we will have compassion towards those around us who are dead Spiritually. The more we partake of God’s nature, the More we will pray for the Salvation of those who are still in the grip if Spiritual death around us instead of judging them.
Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”: Behold the approach of Christ towards a Dead soul and the authority in His Words. The Lord draws closer to a Dying Soul. A touch and word for the Lord is enough to raise a Man from His Spiritual death. This is exactly how the Lord comes to us even today. He touches us with His Hands and Commands us through the Gospel. The gospel call to all people, to young people particularly, is, “Arise, arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light and life.” Christ has called us through His words to arise and live and walk in Victory over the powers of Spiritual Death. Have You heard that call from Jesus? Have you heard Him say to You, “Young Man, Young Woman arise!!!” Now that you are Young is the Time to Arise and Walk in victory over the Powers of Spiritual Death!! Now that You are Young is the Time to show forth with Your Life the Glory and Riches of God’s Goodness. There are many who are waiting for the time when they are old to start working for the Lord. There are many who are waiting for the time when they have retired before they start gaining ground for the Lord. But they will be shocked that Just as the Lord said to Joshua, He will say to them. God told Joshua, ” You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed. (Joshua 13:1)” Arise Young Man!!! Arise Young Woman!!!” Don’t become Old and Die without doing that which the Lord has planned for you to do. Now that You are Young is the Time to remember Your Creator(Ecclesiastes 12:1). Again I say to You, “Arise!!!”
So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.: Glory to God!!!! The Young Man is Risen and began speaking!!! Those whom the Lord has raised from Spiritual Death, He opens their mouth that they might sing His Praise. One evidence that truly we have been raised from our sinful state is that we speak of Christ. What we speak about in our ordinary conversation is an indication of what state we are. Show Me your speech and I will tell you whether you are Dead or alive.

Notice that Jesus Presented the Young Man back to the Mother. If Jesus had said, “Woman, now that I raised your Son, He must be my Disciple and Follow me Everywhere I go”, the Woman would be grateful still. She would have said, “No problem Sir!!! What is important is that I know My son is alive”. But Behold the thoughtfulness of Christ!!! He knew that the Young Man was the only one left to take care of the Mother and so He presented Him to Her. There are many parents who feels that if they give their children to the Lord and for His service, their lives will be miserable and no one will take care of them. Well, permit me to inform you that, If you offer your children to the Lord, He will give Them back to you in a better condition than you gave them out. This Woman’s Son was dead when she met the Lord but now the Lord returned Him back much better. Let us therefore offer our children to the Lord and He will present them back better than we can imagine.
Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”  And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region: The Lord and his goodness, as well as the Lord and his greatness, are to be feared. When we see the Lord causing those who are Spiritual dead to Arise, we should give Him Glory!!! We should be grateful that the Lord has decided to visit us with His redemption in our terrible condition as we Journey to Hell. Oh Lord I am grateful that you visited Me with Your Salvation now that I am Young!!!
Dear Friend, Jesus Christ is the same, Yesterday, Today and Forever. He is Still a Compassionate God. He still looks upon all those who are Spiritually dead with Compassion. He still comes closer to lay Hands upon them. His words are still as powerful as in the Beginning. Arise oh Young Man!!! Arise Oh Young Woman!!! Arise to the Call of the Gospel of Christ and Let His Reports spread through your Life!!! May the Lord give us Grace to hear Him when He says to Us, “ARISE”. (Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
#Everyday with Jesus.
