Day 157 – Zachariah’s Prophecy!!!

Zachariah’s Prophecy!!!
Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:  “Blessed  is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,  As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began, That we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, To perform the mercy promised to our Fathers and to remember His holy covenant, The oath which He swore to our father Abraham: To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.  “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins,Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Day spring from on high has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”

So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel…….. Luke 1:67-80
In our previous Study, we considered the Birth of John the Baptist and the circumstances surrounding His naming and how the mouth of His Father was loosed from dumbness. Here we read about the Song and prophecies of Zachariah about the Ministry of John  the Baptist who was to prepare the Way for the first coming of Jesus Christ. The Ministry of John  the Baptist is very important for us as the Church today because we are also called to prepare people for the second coming of Christ. Let us therefore see what we can learn from the ministry of John the Baptist according to this Prophecy.
Now his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied,: Zachariah who was punished because of his Sin of unbelief has now been Forgiven and God not only forgives Him, but also endured Him with supernatural abilities to prophesy. This is exactly what the Lord seeks to do with us. He seeks to forgive us our sins and baptize us with the Holy Spirit so that we may become instruments in His Service. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached to the Multitude saying, ” Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(Acts 2:38)” God also promised in Joel saying, ” And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,(Acts 2:17)” So we see that one Mark that a Person is filled with the Holy Spirit is that He speaks forth God’s words with power. Let us therefore seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit for the promise of the Holy Spirit is for You and Your Children and all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call(Acts 2:39)

Blessed  is the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited and redeemed His people, And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,  As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, Who have been since the world began: Before the Coming John the Baptist, the Last prophet that the nation of Israel had was Malachi. And between Malachi and the coming of John the Baptist and Jesus was a Period of 400 Years. So in all these Years, there was no Prophet, or any Visitations from Heaven. The Lord neglected the Nation of Israel for 400 years but Finally, He has decided to visit them with Mercy and redemption. He has raised up a horn of Salvation. The Horn is a Picture of Power. Paul says in Romans 1:16 saying, ” For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. “. Whenever the Lord visit His people, it is to save and redeem them. It is to fulfill what He has promised in His Words.
That we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, To perform the mercy promised to our Fathers and to remember His holy covenant, The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:: if the Lord has raised a Horn of Salvation, we may ask Salvation from what? It is Salvation from our enemies and those who hate us. But  the only Enemies that Old Covenant Israelite could think of were Physical enemies like the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hittite, the Amorite, etc. But today for us who have stopped fighting with Flesh and blood, like it says in Ephesians 6:12, ” For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” In the New Covenant, we don’t have any Human or Earthly enemies anymore. No Human is our enemies. Today, our main enemies are Satan and His Host. The Lust in our flesh are our enemies and they hate us and seek to corrupt us to drive us away from God. These are our enemies not Human. So Jesus has come to save us from the Devil and the Lust in our Flesh. This is the Salvation that the New testament promised. If you want Salvation from the difficulties and problems that Men cause for You, you have to go back to the Old testament and be a Jew under Moses regime because that is where we have promises from Salvation from Men. In the New Covenant, we are to resist the Devil(James 4:7) and Love all our Human enemies(Matt 5:43). God has made a Covenant with you and Me through the blood of Jesus Christ, the blood of the Everlasting Covenant(Hebrews 13:20). He has promised that, “Sin shall not have Dominion Over us(Romans 6:14)”
To grant us that we, Being delivered from the hand of our enemies, Might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life. : God does not want any of us to be enslaved to our enemies which is Devil and the Lust in our Flesh but He has come to deliver us so that we might serve Him without fear. In the Old testament, they serve God with tremendous fear. A Wrong type of fear. The fear that, “God might Hurt Me”. But Today, the Fear of God that we are to have is, “The fear that we might Hurt God who loves us so much”. These are the two types of Fear of God. Many live in the fear that God is seeking to hurt them for their mistakes but only few are living in fear that they might hurt and disappoint God. We are to have the fear of a Loving child who does not want to hurt his Father or break His father’s Heart. 2 Corinthians 7:1 says, “We are to perfect Holiness in the Fear of God”. We cannot Serve God properly if we have a fear that, He does not love us or He is looking for our faults and mistakes and seeking to hurt and punish us. Also, we are to serve Him in Holiness and Righteousness. We cannot Serve the Lord if we are not Holy and righteous according to the Light we have. Our Holiness and Righteousness must be before Him not before Men. And it must be for the rest of our lives. This is the purpose which God has sent Jesus to us. To bring us Salvation from our enemies so that we might serve Him without fear but in Holiness and Righteousness before Him all the days of our lives. Let us therefore mediate on these and seek that these are fulfilled in our lives.
“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, To give knowledge of salvation to His people By the remission of their sins;: If we seek to serve the Lord even today, we must go before the Lord to prepare people’s heart to be opened to receive the Lord and follow Him. We are to give people the knowledge that they can be forgiven and have victory over Sins. John the Baptist could only preach forgiveness of Sin but we are called in the New Covenant to preach More than mere forgiveness but freedom from the Power of Sin. We are to tell people that they can be Saved from always falling again and again into the same sin. This is how we are going to prepare people for the second coming of the Lord.
Through the tender mercy of our God, With which the Day spring from on high has visited us; To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”: We must for the rest of our lives recognize that it is through the Mercy and Grace of God that the Light of the Gospel of Christ has been shone upon our lives. For We all sit in darkness and in a state of spiritual death until the Lord shone his light in our heart. Jesus has come to guide our feet into the way of rest and peace with God. It is not God’s will that any of us should be Troubled. He has called us to Peace and we also must be Men and Women of peace to those around us.
So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.: Just as  John the Baptist grew and became strong in Spirit, we also must grow in Grace and knowledge of the most High and in fullness of the Holy Spirit. Those who seek to become Great in the Service of the Lord must be faithful during their days of trials in the Wilderness of Life. It seems to me that God always trains His People by leading them through the Wilderness experience. For God to train the Israelites, He led them through the Wilderness. Moses noted in Deuteronomy 8:2 saying, ” And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to HUMBLE you and TEST you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.” For Moses to become the Great Leader He became, God took Him through Wilderness Experience to lead Sheep for 40 years(Exodus 3:1). Even for Jesus, it was written that, ” Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.(Matthew 4:1)”. This is God’s method of Training Men He uses. A life full of Wilderness experiences where there seems to be No food or water. Where You Hunger and thirst. Where you face a lot of difficulties and challenges. But in the midst of it all, You will find God. In the midst of ALL the things You pass through in the Wilderness, you will learn to depend on God alone. Let us therefore Humble ourselves when the Lord leads us through the Wilderness Life for a day is coming when He will manifest His Power in us for the whole world to see.
Dear Friend, seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Greatest enemies You have is not human but rather the Devil and the Lust that Dwells in Our Flesh. The Lord has visited us with Salvation so that You may be delivered and serve Him without fear all the days of Your Life. Respond to Him and Let Him lead You through the Wilderness. And in days to come, if you remain faithful, He will show You forth to the world as an instrument in His Hands. Don’t come short of this Life. What the Lord did for John the Baptist, He will do far more to us. For He says, ” Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.(Matthew 11:11)”. May the Lord open our eyes to see the privilege we have in the New Covenant(Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
