Day 132 – The Last Passover Feast!!!

The Last Passover Feast!!!
Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?” “….. Matthew 26:17-22
In our previous Study, we saw how a woman anointed Jesus for His buried before He was Crucified and the negative reactions of His Disciples saying, “Why this Waste?”. We also saw how Judas was offended with the rebuke and correction Jesus gave to Him and then sought to betray Him. Here we see celebrating the Feast and instituting the Lord’s Supper.
Now on the first day of the Feast of unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” : The passover was a feast that God had ordained for the Israelites from the day they left Egypt. It was meant to be a constant remembrance of how God had delivered them in Egypt. It was a feast they celebrated under the Old Covenant. And as long as the New Covenant was not yet established, Jesus continued in obedience to the Laws given to the Jews to obey. He taught people to obey the Laws of Moses also. He told the Leper that was cleansed to offer the gifts commanded by Moses(Matt 8:4), He Told the Young Rich Ruler that the way to inherit Eternal Life is by Keeping the Laws(Matt 19:17), He taught People to pay their Tithes(Matt 23:23).So Jesus obeyed the Laws and kept it as Long as the New Covenant was not yet established. But now that the New Covenant is established, do you still want to keep the Laws? Well it’s Your Choice. But as Long as You are under the Law, Sin will rule over You(Romans 6:14). The Reason why most Christians are still living a defeated Life is because they don’t know the Difference between the Old Covenant Laws and The New Covenant Life. Another thing we see here about Jesus is that although the Feast was just a ceremonial Feast that has no moral value, yet He kept it. There are many things even in the New testament that has no Moral value, yet we must keep it because the Lord has commanded it. For example, Covering of Hair for a Lady when She Prays and Prophesies (1 Corinthians 11:5). It is a very small thing and has no Moral value. But the Lord has commanded it and those who are willing to fulfill ALL that the Lord has commanded in the New Covenant will seek to obey it. The Bible does not says you should cover Your Hair ALL day Long, it only says when you pray and Prophesies, it is just for a short time. Is that too much to do? Our attitude to the Little demands of Scripture matters a Lot. Let us therefore Humble ourselves and not follow the Example of disobedience that we see around us. If others are disobeying it, why should we?It can also be noted that the Disciples knew that preparation must be made for the passover. It is a wonderful thing we we begin to make preparation for the service of the Lord. We must always prepare our Hearts whenever we are approach the Lord to feast in His presence.
And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.: Behold the Humility of Christ. He was indeed poor so that we can become rich. At His birth, He had no room, during his ministry, He had no place to lay His Head, even at the Last Supper, He had no room of His own yet He was not ashamed to ask for Help from people. Let us therefore Humble ourselves when we find ourselves in need. Don’t be ashamed to ask for Help from people. The Bible does not say, “Do not borrow or ask for Help”, what it says is, “Owe no man anything”. If you borrow, make sure You return it. Jesus did not convert this room to his own. Check your Heart, is there anything You have borrowed and You have not returned? Is there any money you borrow and You have not returned? Is there any book in your house that was borrowed and You have not returned? Owe no Man anything(Romans 13:8). Even though Many rejected Jesus, yet there are Few who were willing to open their house to Him. This Man has given freedom to Jesus that any time He wants room in his house, He can come and take it. There are people like this also today who says to the Lord,” anything You want in my home or Life, Come and take it Lord “. Otherwise, Jesus would not have taken the Liberty to send His Disciples to this Man saying,” I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples”. Let us therefore seek to be a Man Like this whom the Lord can keep a feast in his house with His Disciples. Those who open their homes for Jesus must also be willing to accept His Disciples. If we say our house is for the Lord and Yet fail to welcome the Disciples of the Lord into our home, we are only deceiving ourselves. Also note, Because this Man opened His house for the Lord, He came to know what others do not know about Jesus. He was informed that “The hour of the Death of Jesus was near”. The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him and open their properties and life to the Lord.
When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.: This was the First time the Lord was going to reveal to His Disciples that the one that was going to betray Him was from their midst. Jesus knew from the Beginning who it was going to be and Yet He never exposed It or gossip about it. Judas was as wholehearted as Peter when the Lord called Him. But Luke 6:16 says, “Judas Iscariot became a Traitor”. He was a good Man when He started to follow the Lord. But He became a Traitor in the Long run. And He was so smart that none of the other Disciples suspected Him. Let Him who thinks He stand take heed lest He falls.
And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him, “Lord, is it I?”: Look at the wonderful attitude of the Disciples towards the Lord. When they heard that One Of them was going to betray Jesus, Nobody suspected the other. Peter did not look at John and say, “Lord is it John?” Matthew did not look at James and say, “Lord is it James?”. They all say to Jesus, “Lord is it I?” God’s word are not given so that we can judge others, rather it was given so that we may Judge ourselves. This is why the Holy spirit says through Paul that each time we come to break bread, “Let Each Man Examine Himself(1 Corinthians 11:28)” Let us therefore Judge ourselves each time we read  or hear God’s word and we hear Him saying to Us, “One Of You will betray Me”. Let us always ask ourselves, “Lord is it I? Am I the one that is going to betray You with the way I use my mouth, eyes, ear, and and I? Am I the one that is going to betray You with the way I raise up my Children, spend my money and use my time? Is it I Lord?”
Dear Friend, the Lord is in need of a House to feast, will He find your House opened onto Him? If you judge yourself lest you will be judged by the Lord. Examine Yourself when you feast in the presence of the Lord. May the Lord give us Grace to do this in Jesus name. (Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
