Day 104 – The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant!!!

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant!!!
Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. “But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and tookhim by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what had been done, they were very grieved, and came and told their master all that had been done. Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”……. Matthew 18:21-35
In our previous study, Jesus was speaking about how to deal with a Brother who have Sinned against us in the church and the authority given to the Elders of the church when a Brother refuses to repent. Here we read of Peter asking the Lord a question concerning forgiving a Brother and the Parable the Lord spoke to explain the reasons why we should forgive others.
Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.: The Lord has been speaking about forgiving a Brother who Sins, so here Peter ask a question, “Lord, supposing a Brother keeps on Sinning against Me, what should I do? Maybe He repents and comes back, haven’t I tried enough if I have forgiven Him Seven times?” The Jews had a tradition that one was to forgive His brothers three times, and Peter knew that the Lord was teaching a higher standard, so He thought if He forgives His Brother Seven times, he has done enough. There is a deep corruption in our flesh that seeks to avoid doing too much in religion. We are always afraid of becoming too good to people lest they take us for granted. We are so quick to keep record of the wrongs that people has done against us. We are not like little Children who keeps no record of Evil done against them. Let us therefore seek to be converted into little Children lest we keep a record of how many times people have wronged us. But Jesus replied Peter, ” I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” This means that if Your Brother Sins against You 490 times(70×7) in a day, You Must keep on forgiving Him(Luke 17:3-4). I wonder how many of us will believe that such person’s Repentance is genuine. No wonder in Luke 17:5 when the Lord said this, the Apostles said, “Lord increase our faith”. Help us to  believe that this Brother’s Repentance is genuine. It really requires faith to have that Love which believe all things, which takes a Man at his words. If He says, He has repented, accept it. Don’t go judging his mind for you don’t know whether He has repented or not. What does this means? Nobody does the same thing 490 times in a day. The Lord was aiming at an infinite number of times!!! The point of the whole matter is that we must never hold Sin against anybody. We must release all those who have Sinned against us because this is exactly how God forgives us. We can go to God a Million times in a Day to ask for forgiveness over the same thing You have done again and again and He will forgive us. He is always there to forgive as long as we Confess it to Him in Jesus name.
Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. : Sin is a Debt we owe to God. Anytime we Sin in words, thought, actions and motives we are building up a debt towards God. And it is something the Lord has to  Call us for to settle our debts. It is something we have to pay. A day of settlement of accounts with the Lord is coming. A day where we will be asked, “How much Do you owe the Lord?”. So Here comes a Man who owed his Master, “Ten thousand talents”. How much do you think a Man who has ten thousand talent worth? For easy estimation, Let’s say $10 million dollars!!! Behold how great our sin is before God!!!
But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’  Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt: Our Debts to God is something we have to repay and if we do not have the means to repay it, we have to be thrown into the prison of Hell till we clear it. There is no way out unless we pay. This is why God could not forgive just because we repented. He forgives only on the basis of that debt being repaid by Jesus on the cross. 1 Peter 1:18-19, says “you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold… But with the precious blood of Christ” Forgiveness is not cheap. It may appear cheap for us but it cost Jesus everything. He gave up everything He had so that we could be free from the Debt we all owe to God. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly(Romans 5:6). There is nothing a Slave can do to pay up His debt. We must come to God in Humble dependence on the Price Jesus paid for us on the Cross. That is why we pray in Jesus name. The Prison of Hell that we should have gone and be forsaken by God forever, Christ went for us. Christ was forsaken by the Father for our sake. The punishment for Sin is Hell. It would be impossible for God to forgive the Sins of Humanity if nobody paid the Price for Hell for Humanity. And this is Why Jesus had to Die. Now a clever mind may ask, “Since eternal damnation in Hell is the punishment for Sins, then how come Jesus did not stay in Hell forever? Can an ordinary Man like Me die for the Sins of another Man talk less of the Sins of the whole world? How is this Possible!!! This is a Very good question to ask!!! This is where we Must remember that Jesus was fully God and Fully Man when He came to Earth. He was 100% God and 100% Man. He Lived on Earth and overcame Sins as a Man without using His Powers as God, but He died for the Sins of the Whole World as God. Those three Hours of darkness on the Cross when He was forsaken by God the Father was the time He suffered Hell for All Humanity. Because God is an infinite being, three Hours in Hell for God is equivalent to eternity in Hell for All Humanity. Only God could do that!!! No Man can die for the Sins of any Man. It had to be God!!! And after those three Hours, He said, “It is finished”. All the Punishment for Hell is Finished. He did not go to any Hell for three days in the grave to fight for keys as some say. He collected it on the Cross!!! Remember He told the thief that, “Today You shall be with Me in paradise”. That very day, He was laid in the Tomb, He was in the Paradise section of Hades with the thief. It is an insult to say, Jesus fought Three days in the grave to get keys from the Devil. So it is based on what Christ did for us on the Cross that the Father looks unto us with Compassion and forgives us our Sins.
But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ And he would not, but went and threw him into prison till he should pay the debt. : But the Sad thing is that this Servant that has been forgiven so great an amount of debt could not forgive His fellow Servant a Small amount 100 denarii. For easy estimation, let’s say $100. A small amount of debt compared to $10 million that the King forgave Him for. He held Him by the throat and was willing to take Revenge immediately for such a Small amount. Even the king never did this to Him. Oh How Wicked the Heart of Man!!! When we think about the greatest Sin or Crime that another Human being has done against us,it is only $100 worth compare to the $10 million we have done against God. We need to see this proportion clearly. If we compare what others do to us to what we have done to God, we will find it easier to forgive others. But this Servant was quick to forget how much He Himself has been forgiven. Even though His fellow Servant said the same words He said to the King, ” Have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’”, Yet He did not struck His Heart. Oh how evil an unforgiven attitude is. And He threw his fellow Servant into Prison for such a small amount.
Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.: So when the Master was informed about it, He summoned the Servant. The Lord is aware of the attitude You have towards those who wronged and Sinned against You. You can’t hide it from Him. The accuser of the brethren is there to report the case. It is wickedness to fail to forgive others of what they do to us. No matter how great the Crime, if You don’t forgive from Your Heart, the Lord will say to You, “You wicked Servant!!” God expects us to be Merciful unto others Just as He had mercy on Us. The wrath of God is upon all those who have not forgiven others. Even if it is one person You have not forgiven, the wrath of God is upon such You. God deliver such a Person into the Hands of torturers. Torturers are Satan and evil Spirits. They have gotten hold of many believers because they have an Unforgiving attitude towards others and hold others by the throat inwardly. This is why some believers are plague with Sickness that drugs and injections don’t cure(Not all Sickness are caused by this but some). This is why some Believers are tortured with bad mood, depression and gloomy Spirit.

And to make the Matter worst, the debt He was forgiven before was recalled back. He was now to pay the debt He has been previously forgiven!!! Do You know that God can recall those Sins He once forgave You because You did not forgive another Human being? Read this Parable carefully!!! It is crystal clear. If there is one person You have not forgiven, God will not forgive You also!!! Matthew 6:14-15 says, ” For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”  It is as You forgive others their Sins that qualifies You to receive forgiveness form the Lord.(Matt 6:12). I am sure You know that anyone whose Sins are not forgiven will be thrown into Hell. Even though You claim to be Born again and that God has become Your Heavenly Father but at one time, You refuse to forgive one person from Your Heart and You die in that state I can guarantee You 100% based on these verses that You will go to Hell. Because there is no chance after Death for God to forgive You. The only place God can forgive is here on this Earth. But a Clever mind may ask, “What if the person has lived 50 years of faithfulness in God and then did not forgive just one person?” Then it means You believe what other religions teaches that God will judge us by comparing our good works with our bad works. So if the Good is more than the bad it means Heaven and if the bad is more than the Good, it means Hell. Is that what you believe? Well that is not Christianity!!! We are not saved based on our Good works Verse Bad works. It does not matter if you have lived 100 years in faithfulness. The word of God remains True!!! Jesus says, “But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”

Honestly, I will tell you this, if on the final day, God forgives those who did not forgive others, then it means Jesus is a Liar!!! It means Jesus was a Joker!!! He does not mean what He says. All the Glory He promised us was a Lie. All the Promises was a Lie!!! If Jesus ends up forgiven those who did not forgive others, then He is a Liar!!! Don’t take a Chance my brothers and Sisters. I beg You with the mercies of God believe God’s word!!! Heaven and Earth will pass away but His words will not.
Dear Friend, You have heard it all. Exactly as You have seen, Jesus says to us, “So will My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” You can release those who have wronged You from Your Heart today. No matter how great the offense is. Release them from Your Heart. Don’t hold it against them. Let it go. Compare How much the Lord has forgiven You with the little wrong your fellow Men did against you. You don’t even have to go to them. Do it in your heart now. Let it go. May God give us Grace to forgive ALL men no matter what evil they have done against Us in Jesus name(Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
