Day 099 – The Mount of Transfiguration!!!

The Mount of Transfiguration!!!
Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”  While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said,“Arise, and do not be afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only….. Matthew 17:1-8
In our previous study, we see Jesus rebuking Peter for seeking Man’s interest and calling All His Disciples to take up the Cross and follow Him. Here we see Jesus showing forth His Hidden Glory and the reaction of Peter and the other Disciples.
Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.: Six days after Peter got Revelation about who Christ is, after Jesus spoke about the Church and Spiritual authority. Six days after He rebuked Peter and  spoke about taking up the Cross as we follow Him, we read of this wonderful event. What happened within those days was not written but what happened after those moments of Silent was glorious. Whenever Christ seems silent in our lives and do nothing for us, we can be sure that He is planning something beyond the natural for us to experience like this case. Those who will see the Glory of the Lord must be willing to spend time alone with Him. Those who will partake of His nature must be willing to go through the stress of climbing the High Mountain. Revelation 4:1 invites us to ““Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” So Jesus gave them a little glimpse of the Glory He had before the world was created and the Glory that will one day be Manifested through His body when He comes back to Earth to rule. But at this time when He was on Earth, that Glory was Hidden, it was inside but concealed in a body like ours, in a Flesh like ours. But here He was Transfigured before them, that is He allowed the Glory as of the Glory of the only begotten of the Father to shine through Him and Peter, James and John saw it. Let us therefore Go with Him to the Mountains that we might see His Glory.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him: Moses represented the Old testament Law, and Elijah represents the Old testament Prophets. So Here we have a Complete representation of the Old testament which is often referred to as, “The Law and the Prophets” So Here was the Physical embodiment of the Laws and the Prophets. So Moses and Elijah were taking to Jesus about His death which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem(Luke 9:31).
Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”: Peter became so excited when He saw Moses and Elijah. For none of them have ever seen the Picture of them. They recognized that it was Moses and Elijah Immediately. This is exactly how it would be in Heaven, there will be Spiritual recognition and there would be no need for introduction as to who each person is. So Peter said, “Lord, it is good to be here” wherever we are with the Lord is a good place, even if it is on a Cold mountain without bed or covering. The presence of the Lord and the communion with the Saints makes a Mountain top Heaven to us. Furthermore, Peter said, ” I will make three tabernacles, One for You, one for Moses and one for Elijah”. Those who have seen the Glory and beauty of the Lord cannot but wish to dwell there all the days of their Lives(Psalm 27:4).They always wish to make a Tabernacle where the Lord is. Notice His selflessness. He wanted to make three Tabernacles one each for Jesus, Moses and Elijah. Then where are the Disciples going to stay?, I perceive Peter was saying, “Lord, as Long as the three of you get a place to lay your head, we are content to sleep outside on this Mountain!!! Let the rain or Sun comes, we will endure it!!! For there is nothing as good as beholding Your Beauty!!!” Those who have truly seen the Glory of the Lord stop seeking their own comfort and interest. Let us therefore make it our goal to dwell forever in the temple of the Lord to behold His Beauty!!!
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” :We need to see the significance of this statement that God the Father made from Heaven in the context of what Peter had Just said. Peter just finished saying, ” let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” In other words, He was putting Jesus, Moses and Elijah on the same Level. He want to receive instructions from both Moses, Elijah and Jesus. But the Father was so quick to point out that it was Wrong!!! When we put Jesus as the same Level with any other human being no matter how great they have been, immediately a cloud comes better us and Heaven. It is possible for us to be so taken up with a Man of God who has been a tremendous Blessing to us to the extent that we begin to put Him at the same level with Jesus in our lives unconsciously. We may begin to take their words or advise as the Word of God. We may criticize the Roman Catholic for using Mary as a Second Mediator but a lot of pentecostal Believers make their Pastors a Second Mediator between them and Christ.

Also Moses and Elijah represents the Old Covenant which is Passing away. And that Jesus has come to establish a New Covenant. And now our ears are to open to Jesus. Hebrews 1:1-2 Makes it clear, ” God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son”. God wants to speak to us now through Jesus!!! Not through Moses and Elijah. Not through Great Men of God. Unless we hear Jesus through them!!! This is a Very important lesson we must Learn. We must not make any man our Idol. When we begin to admire them to the extent that they begin to take the place that Jesus should take in our lives, immediately a cloud comes between us and the Father. Our Fellowship with the Father becomes disturbed and if we are sensitive, we will hear the voice saying to Us, “Don’t put Jesus at the same Level with these other Men” The Old Covenant is Abolished!!! Jesus is the one we are to Look unto now. If you want to know the Will of God or hear what God is saying to you, You don’t have to Go to a Prophet or a Preacher. In the old Covenant it was like that, to know the will of God, they have to go to the priest. But here in the New Covenant, the Promise is, ” None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them(Hebrews 8:11)” Now the least person in the Church can know the Lord personally and directly as a Father. Thank God for Moses, Elijah and other great Men of God. Thank God for the written Word of God. But we can listen to them and even read the Bible yet not Hear Jesus speaking to us. It is possible to read the Bible and be Hearing Paul, Peter, James or John instead of Hearing Jesus. We must Look unto Jesus as the author and Finisher of our faith(Hebrews 12:1-2).
And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said,“Arise, and do not be afraid.”: Whenever there is a cloud that separates us for the Lord, whenever there is a break in Fellowship with the Father, then fear comes into our Hearts. Fear is never in the will of God for us. The Voice of the Lord should bring us delight not fear. The first time it was said that a Man was afraid is when Adam and Eve Sinned. , “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid(Genesis 3:10)”. Jesus does not come to bring fear. Fear is from the Devil. Whenever fear comes into our heart, you can be sure that it is not God. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.(2 Timothy, 1:7). The Spirit of fear concerning any thing, future, your health, your children or family, concerning anything in the world is always from Satan. Jesus always sought to drive out fear from his Disciples. And we must always hear the Lord touching us with His hands in the moment of fear saying, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” A word that we need to hear today when the things happening around us can bring fear into our hearts.
When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only : This is a beautiful picture of how the new Covenant should be. Where we hear only Jesus and seeing only Jesus. Does it means we don’t care for other men of God who preaches the word to us? Not at all. There are many Exhortations in the New testament that says, ” Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine(1 Timothy 5:17)” But only if they point us to Jesus!!! The greatest Preacher is the one who leads people beyond Himself to Christ. He leads people beyond Himself to see Jesus. Just Like John the Baptist pointed Jesus to people saying, “Behold the Lamb of God(John 1:36). He opens the word so that we can see Jesus in the Word and hear Jesus beyond the voice of the Man. God uses Human instrumentalist, He has given the Church Apostles, Prophet, Teachers, Shepherds, and Pastors but the ultimate aim is that all of Us may come to see Jesus in our Spirit and hear Him through all these people that God uses. Let us therefore Never be satisfied until we Jesus only. Let us follow Leaders who can say, “Follow Me as I follow Christ!!!”
Dear Friend, there is a Mountain experience reserved for those who will take the pain to walk with the Lord and tarry in His presence. Jesus is the Only Man that God the Father has Pointed to us to See and Hear. Don’t be so taken up by Men of God of God that has blessed you to the Extent that you lose Your Simple Devotion to the Lord!!! Don’t bring a Cloud between the Father and yourself. There is no need to fear the voice of the Father for the Father Loves You just like He loves Jesus. May the Lord give us Revolution on this Matter that the “Old Covenant is Abolished!!!” (Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
