Day 079 – Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit!!!

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit!!!
Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.  For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”….. Matthew 12:31-37
In our previous Study, we see Jesus casting out a Demon from a blind and dumb man and the reactions of the Pharisees towards the Healing. They said Jesus had a connection with the “Prince of Demons” and that was why He was able to do such Miracles. Here we see Jesus warning us against speaking against the Holy Spirit and to be careful with the words of our mouth.

Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.: It is amazing to see Jesus reaction towards those who spoke evil of His Miracles. He was not upset. He said “If You have spoken against Me, You are Forgiven. For I am just a Man” If we say we want to be like Jesus, this is one area where we can be Like Him. We must decide that, “Whoever speaks against Us or harms us in anyway is forgiven” we must never hold grudges against anyone. In the old testament, those who spoke against Moses, were Judged(Numbers 12 & 16). But in the New Covenant, those who spoke against Jesus were forgiven. If we claim to be followers of Jesus, we must never wish that those who harm us or speak against us must be Judged. We must say Like Jesus, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. They are unaware of how serious it is to speak against Children of God” we must forgive even before people ask us for forgive them. This is the attitude of all who have entered the New Covenant. If you desire that God should punish those who speak against You, then you are a follower of Moses and not of Christ. You are still living in Numbers Chapter 12 and not Matthew Chapter 12. It is impossible to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ and Yet retain grudges against anyone for any reason!!! Let us therefore take it seriously!!! If you have not forgiven somebody of what they did or said against you, then You are not a Disciple of Christ. And God will not even forgive You because He does not forgive those who don’t forgive others(Matt 6:14-15). Jesus only warned them to be careful against speaking against the Holy Spirit because this Sin would not be forgiven either in this age or the age to come.
What does it mean to Speak against or blasphemy the Holy Spirit? This is one sin Jesus said cannot be forgiven. It is one Sin that cannot be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Obviously, a person who Commits this Sin goes to Hell forever. This Sin is very hard to Explain because it is not clearly shown what it is and we don’t want to be wrong and speculate about it. But in this context, I perceive Jesus was saying, “It is when You know for certain that a Particular action or ministry is of the Holy Spirit as it was in the case of Jesus and Yet call it the work of the Devil Like these Pharisees” This does not mean we must not question and use our discernment  in a lot of ministry today that are claiming to be of the Holy Spirit. Many Preachers use this verse to scare people from testing the Manifestation of the Holy Spirit. All my Life, I have spoken against counterfeit Manifestation of the Holy Spirit because the Bible says in 1 John 4:1,” Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world”. Remember the Devil quoted a verse to Jesus saying “it is written(Matt 4:5)” but Jesus also replied, “It is also written”(Matt 4:7). So when people say to Me,” Don’t speak against these things, if you speak against it, You will not be forgiven “I say to them,” I am only testing every action to know if they are from the Holy Spirit because I don’t want to disobey 1John 4:1″ and as for Me, there are 4 test to know if a Manifestation is from the Holy Spirit which are :

(1) Did Jesus do it?

(2) Did Jesus teach it?

(3) Did the Apostles do it?

(4) Did the Apostles teach it?

So if it is “NO” on this four test, then I reject it!! It cannot be from the Holy Spirit. So don’t be afraid to test the Spirit. If You don’t test because of fear, then You will definitely be deceived by Today’s Christianity. Remember Jesus warns us about False Prophets. And we are in the Last days where Many false Prophets have risen.
Having said that, I repeat, the  important thing is not to define the Sin against the Holy Spirit, because there are many people who are more interested in the Definition. But what is important is to know whether we have committed the Sin or not. For Example, definition of Humility is not important, what is important is to be Humble. The definition is Not clear but one thing we can be sure of is, “We Can know definitely whether we have committed a Sin against the Holy Spirit or not”. How can we know? See, it is the Holy Spirit through the workings of God that Leads people to Repentance(Acts 11:18). The Holy Spirit is the one who works on people’s Hearts to make them have a Longing and desire to repent and turn to God. So if You find in your heart a desire to turn from Sins and repent, then You can be absolutely sure that you have not spoken against the Holy Spirit. No matter what You have done and said against any Preacher or any Manifestation. No matter the amount of terrible things you have done. If there is still a slightest desire to turn around and return to God, then you have not blasphemy the Holy Spirit. This is the test, if a person has committed blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, the Spirit stops pleading on behalf of that person and such a person will never have the desire to repent. Such will be hardened and makes joke of Sin. We are not here to judge who has committed that Sin or not, but we can definitely know about ourselves whether we have committed such Sins or not. So don’t let the Devil or any Preacher bring you under unnecessary condemnation making you feel, “I Have committed Sin against the Holy Spirit and there is no longer hope for Me” I repeat, if you have a desire to turn from Sin and believe in Jesus Christ, I can assure You, You have not Sinned against the Holy Spirit!!!
Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit: In this context, Jesus says our Speech is the fruit of the Tree which is in the Heart. The tree is the attitude and nature we have partaken of, it is of no use changing the Words we speak, that is like hanging good fruits to deceive people. Instead of Changing our words, Jesus says “Change the Tree itself!!! Make the Tree Good!!” If the Tree is good, the fruits we definitely be good. Jesus has come to lay the axe at the root of the bad tree in order to plant a Good tree which will automatically bring forth good fruits(Matt 3:10). We cannot examine the Inner life of a Person or His heart, but we can look at the condition of the Fruits(Speech) to know the condition of the root. The fruits is an indication of the type of tree a person is. Preacher who fails to preach Godliness simply shows that they are not godly trees.
Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things: There are many people who feels Christ-likeness means you will never speak strong words. If a Preacher gets up and calls a group of people “Brood of Vipers”, there are lots of Christians who will jump on Him and say, “Brother, be More Christ-like”. This is Jesus Christ Himself Speaking “Brood of Vipers”. Jesus calls those who deserve to be called such names so that they may know their true condition and repent. Many people’s understanding of Christ-likeness is from their own head and imagination. Christ-likeness includes gentleness and firmness, Grace and Truth. Christ-likeness include chasing those who make money in the Temple out with a whip(John 2:15-16), Not the kind that ignores the Glory of God. Indeed those whose hearts are evil and Yet speaks good are nothing but Brood of Vipers!!! Even Jesus was asking, “How is it possible for You being evil to speak good things?” for the mouth is expected to speak that which fills the Heart. The mouth is an overflow of what fills our Heart. If our hearts is filled of Anger, Anger comes out of our mouth. For Example, supposing You are holding a blue board marker and somebody shakes it, will the blue marker suddenly starts writing Red? Definitely No!! In the same way, when someone irritates us, what comes out of our mouth is an indication of what was always in our hearts. It means there is something we are yet to conquer maybe irritability or anger. So we must be grateful when someone irritate us to see what was actually in our hearts. Let us watch our heart always lest we have an Evil Treasure stored within us. Where All anger, bitterness, dirty words are kept for the day of Manifestation.
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”: I wonder how many Christians believe this? Well many feel I have accepted Christ, so I will be perfectly Alright in the day of Judgement. Not at all, we shall render account of All the words we spoke(2 Corinthians 5:10). All those useless words, useless jokes, words spoken to hurt others, words spoken to damage the reputation of others, judgmental words, critical words, all those gossips, every idle, useless, careless words, we shall have to give account for in the day of Judgment. Every words we speak are recorded down. We will not be able to deny it. We will stand before God to explain why we said it. Let us be careful of the words we speak because a lot depends on it. For by it, we shall be Justified or condemned!!! There is justification be Faith(Romans 5:1), There is Justification by Works(James 2:24). There is also Justification by word(Matt 12:37). This means that if we have a living faith, it would change our works and also our Words. If the Faith we have does not change our words and Speech, then it is a Dead faith. We can be condemned by our words!!! What shall we then do? Control our words or change our speech? No at all. We are to make the Tree good, partake of Christ nature and automatically, our Words and speech will be pure.
Dear Friend, if you still have a desire to repent and turn away from your Sins, then fear not, You have not blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Turn to Him today for tomorrow may be too late. Make the Tree good and Your Fruits will be good. Let your speech always be with Grace and seasoned with Salt. Remember by your words, You will be Justified or condemned. May we not be condemned at the Judgement seat of Christ as a result of our words in Jesus name(Amen). So let us take it seriously now when we are still here. God bless you. Have a blessed day.
