Day 060 – The Forgiveness and Healing of the paralytic!!!

The Forgiveness and Healing of a Paralytic!!!
So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it,they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men…… Matthew 9:1-8
In our previous Study, we saw how Jesus triumph over Demons and the Reactions of the Villagers towards Christ deliverance because they lost their Pigs in the process. And therefore they begged Him to depart from their city.
So He got in a boat, crossed over and came to His own City: Jesus never goes to a place where He is not invited. He never stays in a Place where He is not welcomed. If He senses that some people do not want Him, He leaves them. It is easy to receive Him into our house and then lose Him because He does not feel at home with Us. He never feels at home in a house where there is grumbling and complaining. He never stays in a Church where there is self seeking and glory seeking. Christ will forever stays with those who covet his presence. There are many who never want to have anything to do with Christ now but will Long to stay close to Him when He returns in Glory. But one thing we see about Jesus was that He never threatened them for rejecting Him, He did not create fear of Judgement into their hearts. The Lord never wanted men to accept Him out of fear of being Judged, rather He wanted people to respond to Him out of Love. Let us therefore keep our Hearts and thought pure so that Christ may feel at Home with us. Let us make our thoughts a sanctuary where God can dwell. Let us never create Fear in people in presenting the Good news to them.
Behold they brought to Him a Paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith… : If others will fail to accept the Lord into their city, yet others seek Him diligently. Here we see four men bringing a paralyzed Man to Jesus. The Friends of this Man, had faith that once He can get to Jesus, All his problems are solved. If not, there would not have gone through many difficulty to bring Him to Christ. Mark 2:6 says they uncovered the roof to get this man to Jesus because of the Crowd that surrounded Him. It seems to me that this paralytic man also had faith that the one whom they are taking Him to is able to heal him, if not, He would never have allowed them. This teaches us that we can have faith on behalf of our friends who cannot come to Christ on their own. Parents can tender their children’s case to the Lord when the Children cannot do it themselves. We can approach Jesus on behalf of our loved ones. It should be noted that the Faith we can have on behalf of our Loved ones is not the Faith of Salvation. Salvation faith is a Personal Faith. For anyone to be Saved, He or she must come to Faith personally. It is easier for God to Heal a Man than to save Him because Salvation depends on the Person Repenting of His Sins and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ(Acts 2 :37-38). Let us therefore go to the Lord in prayers on behalf of our loved ones having faith that the Lord will Heal them and grant unto them a heart of Repentance.
He said to the Paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer, for your Sins are forgiven you’ : Though the Man never spoke, yet the Lord looked at Him with pity. Probably the sickness affected his speaking ability, yet the Lord could discern the condition of His Heart. Those who have the Ability to Speak must confess with their mouth but those who cannot speak should not be discouraged because we have a God who is able to see through the Heart to know what is in it. Jesus could see that He has a repentant Heart. So the Lord encouraged Him saying “Son be of Good Cheers, Your Sins are forgiven” The Lord never rebuked Him for being brought into His presence so rudely. The Lord was not bothered about the roof of the House that was removed. Instead the Lord Looked at His condition with Pity and exhort Him as a Son saying “Be of Good Cheers, All the Chastening for your Sins are forgiven. (Hebrews 12:5-6). Those whom the Lord has forgiven has a good reason to be of good cheer. It is Sin that brings sorrow and gloom into a Man’s Life. When we have no Joy, it is an indication that we have lost the presence of the Lord for in His presence there is Fullness of Joy(Psalm 16:11). If there is Joy in Heaven over one Sinner whose Sins are forgiven(Luke 15:7), then why should We not be of Good cheer here on Earth? Also it should be noted that Jesus forgive His Sins First to teach us one thing “Sin is far More Dangerous than Sickness!!!” Jesus has come primarily to save people from Sin. All His Healings and Miracles was an attestation by God the Father, that Jesus was the Man who will save the world from their Sins(Acts 2:22-24). There are many of God’s Children whose Sins has been forgiven but Yet did not recover from their sickness. Jesus still heals today, but we must recognize the Fact that the Main purpose why He came was to Save us from our sins(Matt 1:21). Let us therefore be of Good cheer that our Sins are forgiven even if He has chosen not to Heal our Sickness. Let All those who sought the Lord for Healing but got Forgiveness instead rejoice that they have not sought Him in Vain!!!
Some of the Scribes said within themselves “This Man Blasphemes!!!”: This is another proof that Jesus is God. No one has the Power to Forgive Sin Except from God!! The Scribes recognized that No Man or priest has the Authority to Forgive Sins. It is a pity that so many Christians don’t recognize that. That’s why they still go to confess their Sins to Man who can do nothing but gossip about it to others.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts, said “Why do you think Evil in Your Hearts?” : Though they said it within themselves, yet Christ heard it. The Lord knows all that we say within our Hearts. All our thoughts are naked and open before His eyes(Hebrews 4:13). Let us therefore guide our heart with all diligence!!! Jesus says to them “Why do you think Evil?” it is an evil thing to be suspicious of others and have a judgmental thought about others when we have no fact!! When we suspect without knowing all the fact, Jesus says to us also “Why do you think evil in your heart?” Does the Lord has to say that to you because of someone you are suspecting or judging in your Heart today?
For which is easier to say, “Your Sins are forgiven, or Arise and Walk?” : If we analyze this question Jesus asked them, we will know that it is easier to say Your Sins are forgiven because there is no visible manifestation that one’s Sins has been forgiven. It is very easy for a priest to say to a person “Your Sins are forgiven” but we can’t know whether the Sin was forgiven or not!!! But it is more Difficult to Say “Arise and Walk” Because if the person did not rise and walk, you know there is no power in that word. There is no Visible Manifestation in forgiveness of Sin but there is in Arise and walk.
But that You may know that the Son of Man has Power on Earth to forgive Sins…. “Arise, take Your bed and go to Your House” : All authority has been given to Jesus as a Man to forgive People’s Sins(John 5:22, 27) because He was going to Die for the Sins of the whole world. He alone has the authority given by God because no one else has died for the Sins of the world but Him. He has power on Earth to Forgive Sins.  As long as we are living on this Earth, Jesus has the power to forgive Us. Once You leave this Earth, Nobody can forgive Your Sins. There is no forgiveness beyond the Grave!!! Opportunities to forgive is only on Earth through Jesus Christ. So I perceived Jesus was saying to the Scribes “To prove to You that these words are not empty words, I will raise this Man from His bed!!” And Jesus Healed the Man(Glory to God). And there was a visible manifestation of that Word. If The Man had not risen up, then we would never have been sure if Jesus could forgive Sins or not. How will we know if the First words “Your Sins are forgiven” is valid if the second one “Arise and walk” did not take place? And with this miracle, Jesus proved to the Man and those around Him that His first words was Valid also!!! So we see that All the Miracles of Jesus was an attestation that All His words are Valid. And the Man took his bed by Himself to show that He had fully recovered and went to His House to be a blessing to them because for many years, He had been a burden to them. Let us therefore take the words of Jesus seriously for All His Word are Valid!!!
And when the Multitude saw it, they Marveled and glorified God who has given such power to Man to heal the Sick and authority to one Man which is the Son of Man to Forgive Sins. We should learn to give God thanks and praise for His mercies and kindness towards others. And we should give Him glory for all the powers He has given unto Men to do good.
Dear Friend, Do you know that Sin is more more Dangerous than Cancer? Will You be of good cheer if the Lord Forgives Your Sins but refuses to Heal You? No one can forgive Your Sins Except God!!! And All authority has been committed to Jesus to forgive on Earth. Don’t waste Your time going to the priest. Go to Jesus for He is the only One mediator between Man and God(1 Timothy 2:5). All the Words of the Lord are Valid, take it seriously!! May the Lord give us Grace to keep our Hearts from thinking Evil in Jesus name(Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
