Day 054- The cleansing of the Leper!!!

The cleansing of the Leper!!! 
When He had come down from the mountain, Great Multitudes Followed Him and behold a Leper came and worshiped Him saying ” Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean”. Then Jesus put out His hands and touched Him, saying “I am willing, Be cleansed.” immediately His Leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to Him, “See that You tell no one, but go Your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gifts that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them…… Matthew 8:1-4
In the previous chapters(5-7), We see Jesus describing the type of Life those who accepted Him are to Live. He talks about the Fruits  characters that the Gospel will produce in Us. But in this Chapter and the next one (8-9), we See Jesus showing forth the Gift and power available in His Kingdom. It is also important to note that ALL the Miracles of Jesus has a spiritual application for our Lives and my prayer is that the Lord will open our eyes to see the Truths we can learn from the Miracles of Jesus(Amen). 
When He came down from the mountain, Great Multitudes Followed Him: If we can recall, at the beginning of His Teachings on the Mountain, the  Multitude stayed at the foot of the mountain but only his Disciples took the pains to climb up to the mountain to seat with Him( Matt 5:1). There are many who will not pay the price to climb up to the mountain to be with Christ, but will gladly follow Him when it becomes easy. There are many who will not give up their comfort and endure suffering for Christ but they will gladly follow Him when there is no price to be paid. The Multitude will not follow Christ to the mountain but would joyfully associate with Him when it it cost nothing. Let us therefore not be found among the Multitude who will never take the pain of climbing the mountain to be with the Lord. Another thing we see from these Multitude was that though Jesus gave a very high quality of Life teachings on the mountain, Yet they never turned their back and walked away saying “Who can keep this Laws?” Though Jesus was such a strict Law giver and exposes the wrong attitudes in people’s heart yet the Multitude followed Him diligently and never wanted to depart from Him. People were so affected by the preaching and teachings of Jesus that  they think they have never heard enough of Him. If we keep our conscience clear and fill our Hearts with God’s word and seek to be anointed by the Holy Spirit, then those whom we speak to will be so affected with our teachings that they will always seek to hear more and more. 
A Leper came and worshiped Him: This is another Proof that Jesus is God. Only God deserves to be Worshiped(Matt 3:10).So we see that Jesus received Worship when people worshiped Him Because He was God. Although When He walked on Earth as a Man, He already emptied Himself of all the privileges He had as God. God cannot be tempted, yet Jesus was tempted. But it never changed the Fact that He is God. The Humanity and Divinity of Christ is something that must be equally accepted if we will Walk in the footsteps of Jesus. 
Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean: Leprosy was a disease that the Jews considered as a mark of God’s judgment against Sin. You remember Miriam(Numbers 12:10), Gehazi(1 King 5:27), Uzziah(2 Chronicles 26:20), they were all smitten with Leprosy because of some Sin in particular. And also once someone becomes Leprosy, He or she is Cut off from the people of God and separated from others to avoid polluting them. So we see that Leprosy is a picture of Sin that cuts out our relationship with God. Leprosy is considered as an unclean condition, so also is a Sinner before God. But Christ has come to save us from the wrath of God. Christ has come to take away our sins so that those who are considered as unclean before God can be clothed with the Righteousness of Jesus. So this Leper(Sinner) came to the Lord for Help. I perceived that He must have heard about the Authority in which Christ spoke and taught because Leper are not allowed to come within the gathering of Clean people. So I guess He came summoned courage and approached Jesus saying within Himself “If He could Speak and teach with Such Authority, He should be able to Cure Me also” So He came to Jesus saying “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean” This is a Statement of Faith!!! This is how we should approach God in prayer believing in His ability to Heal and cure and save us from every Disease and tribulation that seeks to destroy our soul. And in our approach to the Lord, it must be in submission to His Will. The Leper did not approach Jesus and started dictating what He wanted Jesus to do, Rather He went in submission to His will saying “If you are willing, Lord”. There are many areas in our lives where we don’t know what God’s perfect will is. So when we come to Him in prayer, we must always say “Thy will be done and not my will”. Let us therefore come to the Lord with Humble request in seeking for His mercy. We are not to demand it as Our right or something we deserve. We are to lay all our Sins, pain, tribulation and trials at his feet saying “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me Clean, and if you don’t, here I am at Your feet, If I perish, Let me perish at Your Feet” 
I am willing, Be cleansed: Those who come to the Lord in Faith with their Humble request will discover that the Lord is always Willing to Help. He is more eager to help us than we are to receive help from Him. He has shown a lot of Signs to a Sinner that He is willing and ready to forgive. For while we were still sinners, He died for us(Romans 5:6-11). The Lord is a Compassionate God, if You approach Him in Faith, you can be sure He will reach out to You. He touched the Leper with His hands to show that He has come to associate Himself with the Fallen race of Sinners to save them. This is a Man that people avoid contact with to prevent them from pollution. But He who comes to the Lord, He will never cast away(John 6:37). If the Lord delays, We can be sure it is for our good. It may be to build a Character in us. But He will never allow us to be tempted beyond our abilities. Jesus healed the Man by His words of command saying “Be cleansed!!!” Those who don’t have the habit of paying attention to the Words of Commands of Jesus shows that they are not willing to be cleansed. The Lord is willing to give you victory over Sexual Sins but His words of command is “Flee Sexual immorality” The Lord is willing to make you clean, Yet He says ” cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the Flesh and Spirit(2 Corinthians 7:1). The Lord is willing to Forgive You, yet He says” Confess Your Sins(1 John 1:9). If we are Willing, we must be ready to abide by the means He has provided through His words. And immediately, the Leprosy was cleansed. Once God speaks, it is done. If we submit to the Lord and His words, we shall see immediate results.. 
After The Man was healed, we see Jesus warning the  Man to tell No one about it. Jesus attitude to publicity was quite different from what we see from today’s Christian leaders. Jesus did not want people to come to Him based on the  fact that He can Heal them. He wanted people to respond based on what they have experienced about salvation. Also, Jesus taught obedience to the Laws of Moses. Because that was the Covenant still in operation as at that time. The New Covenant became established until the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was given. Now we don’t tell people to go to priest to offer any gifts when the Lord has shown them mercy.
Dear Friend, the Lord is always willing to attend to your case. Whether Materially or spiritually. The Lord has the power to make You clean again. Approach Him in simple Humble request, lay down your case before Him with Faith in His Love, power and wisdom. Do not dictate to the Lord, instead say “Lord, if you are willing, You can make me clean” May the Lord direct our path and our mouth as we approach God in prayer(Amen). God bless you.
