The Wise Man and The Foolish Man!!!
Therefore whoever hears the sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken Him to a Wise man who built His House on the Rock and the Rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house and it did not fall because He was founded on the Rock. But Everyone who hears these saying of Mine, and does not do them will be Like a Foolish Man who built His House on the Sand. And the Rain came……. and beat on that house and it fell. And Great was it’s fall. And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His Teachings, for He taught them as one having Authority and not as the Scribes…….. Matthew 7:24-28
We have finally come to the Concluding paragraph of Jesus wonderful teachings popularly known as the sermon on the Mount which we have been considering for a number of Days. As we have seen from the Beginning of this sermon that Jesus spoke about Two ways we can Live our lives. Whether it is by a Righteousness that exceeds the Righteousness of the Scribes and the Pharisees or the one that is lower or the same with them. The Type of Righteousness we choose to pursue will lead us to two ways, either the Narrow Way or the Broad Way. And the Way we follow will Either make us a Wise Man or a Foolish Man.
The Two Hearers: There are two categories of people who listens to God’s word. Those who Heard and do nothing about what they heard and those who heard and acted upon the words they heard. Those who obey what they heard are considered as Wise people while those who took God’s word likely are considered Foolish. Those who obey the words of Jesus are those who build their House on the Rock and those that did not obey are those that builds on sand. What does it means to build on Sand? A man who built on Sand is a man who reads the Bible and attends Church Meetings regularly for there is no other way He could hear the words of Jesus than these. He is a Man whose mind and intellect has been informed about the Teachings of Christ but the problem is that He did not obey what He heard. His problem was not lack of knowledge or lack of emotional excitement. It was Lack of obedience!!! We can say the sand represents our mind and emotions. Building on Sand only brings us to the point where we can say “Lord, Lord!!!” but does not lead us to do the will of God. So we see Jesus saying “Whoever Hears these sayings of Mine and does not do it is Like a Foolish Man building on Sand” Permit me to ask, what are the Sayings of Jesus on that Day and on that Mount? Let us see a summary of His Sayings:

(1) we must be poor in Spirit and aware of our spiritual needs.

(2) We must mourn for our sins and the Sins of others

(3) We must be Meek and gentle

(4) we Must Hunger and thirst for a Righteousness Life

(5)We must be Merciful to others as God has shown mercy to us

(6) we must maintain a pure heart that seeks nothing but God

(7) We must be known as Peace markers

(8) we must be willing to be Persecuted for Righteousness sake and for the name of Jesus

(9) We must have no Anger in our hearts towards our brothers and sisters

(10) we must be careful of our thoughts and Lusting after the opposite Sex

(11)We must be radical to speak the truth always without oaths

(12) We must not take vengeance on those who wrong us

(13) we must Love our enemies and bless those who curse us.

(14) We must be careful to give, fast and pray not to get Honour from Men

(15) We must have no Treasure on Earth but all in Heaven

(16) We must keep our conscience clear from every specks of Sin

(17) We Must not be Lovers of Money but of God

(18) We must be anxious for nothing but trust our Heavenly Father for provision

(19) We must have no Judgemental attitude when we see Sin in other people’s life.

(20) We must beware of False Prophets who seeks to deceive us and lead us away from the simplicity that is in Christ Jesus.
If after hearing All these stated above, And yet we refuse to obey it. Then we are fools building our house on Sand. If We are only interested in knowledge and emotional excitement but not to do the will of God. May we not be foolish in Jesus name(Amen).
Who is the Man who Built His House on the Rock? This is the man that went through the Sand. He is a Man that goes beyond the Sand Level. He is a Man that goes beyond His Knowledge and Emotional Experience. He is the Man who hits the Rock Level!!! The Truth of God hits the Rock when our strong will is blasted!!! It is when the dynamites of God’s word blast our will that we lay the Foundation upon the Rock. It is when we can say “Lord, not my will by thine” He is a Man who can say “I want to get angry with my brother, but I will not do my own will. I have a Lust in my Flesh to lust after that Lady but I will not yield my will to it. I have a Longing to pursue after Money and Honour but I will deny myself and pursue after God and seek His glory “If we deny our will and do the will of God, then we build upon the Rock. The one who built on rock will obviously spend more than the one who built on sand because He needed to dig deep(Luke 6:48). We may Look like a Fool in the eyes of those who are not obeying the Words of Jesus. They may say to us “Why Give up Everything in other to Follow Jesus? Are You the only Christian going to Heaven? You are taking this thing too seriously!!! Relax yourself.” But one day, they would discover that those who spent their lives obeying the words of Jesus are truly the Wise ones.
Another thing I would like us to observe is that: The Foundation of the House is that part that of the house which cannot be seen. So those that dug deep into they got to rock level are those who have an hidden life and walk with God. They are those who obey the words of Jesus in their Thought Life, attitude and Motive which is not obvious to others. Those that built on sand never did a Foundation. They were only interested in showing men that they were building. Those who appear righteously on the Outside but do not obey The words of Jesus in their secret life, thoughts, attitude and motives are fools who built on sand. Those who try to follow the Lord with secrets Sins in their lives are fools.
Presently, Both Houses may look alike in External design and colour. But the test is coming. The Rain, flood and wind is coming which will show where we have really built our house. The two builders will be tested to know what they have built(1 Corinthians 3:13).When tribulation and persecution arise because of the word, then it will be seen, who only heard the word, and who heard and practiced it. Those who have spent their lives doing the will of God will stand firm. But those who only fed their knowledge and emotions will fall away. It fell in the storm, when the builder had most need of it, and expected it would be a shelter to him. It fell when it was too late to build another: when a wicked man dies, his

expectation perishes; then, when he thought it would have been turned into enjoyment, it fell, and great was the fall of it. It was a great disappointment to the builder; the shame and loss were great. May we not suffer shame and loss in Jesus name.
People were astonished at His Teachings: After Jesus was through with His Teachings, they were amazed because He spoke with Authority. What made Jesus teachings so amazing and compelling? Firstly, It was because He was anointed by the Holy Spirit. Teaching God’s word without the Anointing of the Holy spirit is like trying to serve people Raw meat to eat. No one is attracted to eat a raw uncooked meat. But the Anointing of the Holy spirit is the Fire that roast the meat and makes the word of God becomes attractive, interesting and compelling to those whom we preach to. Secondly, it was because Jesus was teaching what He had already practiced in his own life(Acts 1:1). If we seek for the Anointing of the Holy Spirit and preach what we have practiced in our lives, we will also see that God the Father will also give us the same Authority like Jesus had for there is no partiality with God. Let us therefore seek earnestly for the Anointing of the Holy Spirit and the Grace to obey the word of God.
Dear Friend, are you a Wise Builder or a Foolish Builder? And are you building on men stand or leading people going through the video way. Obedience is the principal thing!!!  Lay your Christian foundation on obedience. Go beyond the intellect and the emotion until you yield your will to God. The day is coming when it would be become clear to the whole world what we truly were. May the Lord give us Grace to obey all the sayings of Jesus that you are heard (Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
