Day 047 – Seeking the Kingdom of Heaven!!!

Seeking the Kingdom of Heaven!!
Therefore, do not worry, saying “what shall we eat? What shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For after all these, the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need these things. But seek First the Kingdom of God and his Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to You. Therefore, Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble…….. Matthew 6:31:34
In our previous Study, Jesus was telling His Disciples not to worry and teaching them how to have faith in their Heavenly Father. He continues in these verses by telling them what they should give their thoughts to instead of worrying about what to eat, drink and wear.
One mark that a person is a Gentile is that He seeks after the basic necessity of Life. Gentiles eagerly seek after these things because they are ignorant of another better thing they could seek after. Gentiles seek after the things of this world because they are stranger to Heaven. Gentiles eagerly pursue these things because they have no relationship with God as a Father. It a shameful thing for Christians to seek after the same things that Gentiles seek after. It is a shameful thing seeking after these things despite our great boast in the Almighty Power of God as a Loving Father. The reason why some unbelievers did not embrace Christianity as the True religion is because those who claim to have a better hope on a better promises eagerly seek for the same thing they are seeking after. Let us therefore not walk as the Gentiles do and Let us empty our Hearts and desires from the things the Gentiles seek after.
For Your Father knows that You need these things: God knows our needs more than we do. He Knows that we will need these necessary things Like Food, clothing and Shelter. There is nothing that catches God by surprise. He knows the End of a thing from the Beginning. Although He is in Heaven, Yet He knows our poverty(Revelation 2:9). As a Father pities his own children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows their frame(Psalm 103:13-14). I remember that night that Peter and some Apostles went fishing, and after they have toiled all night and caught nothing, Jesus appeared to them and said “Children, have you any food?”. And they answered Him, “No”(John 21:3-6). Though Jesus knew they caught nothing that Night, yet He asked them. This is to teach us that God wants us to open up to Him in prayer. Our Father knows that we need these things yet He wants us to pray for it to show our dependence upon Him. Philippians 4:6 Says “Be anxious for nothing, but in Everything by prayers and supplication with Thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God” Let us therefore cast All our burden upon the Lord for He cares(1 Peter 5:7)
If there is one thing we should seek, it should be the Kingdom of God. The cure of anxiety is to continually seek the kingdom of God. When we are anxious, what we are testifying is that our primary desire in Life is not the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. The Kingdom of God is a better thing to give our thoughts to. It is the one thing that is needful instead of food and clothes. Do you remember what happened when Jesus visited Mary and Martha. Martha was worried about making food but Mary sat down listening to the Word of the Kingdom. Jesus rebuked Martha saying ” Martha, Martha!!! You are worried about so many things. But one thing is needful and Mary has chosen that good part(Luke 10:38-42). Seeking the Kingdom of God and its Righteousness is that Good part. The Kingdom of God must be the First thing we seek in Everything we do. When we wake up each day, the Kingdom of God should be our waking thoughts not what we are going to eat, drink or wear that day. Shame on Believers who wake up and the first thing they seek after is food. Let our care for Righteousness, peace and Joy in the Holy spirit take the place of other cares. If the Gentiles choose to seek after Food, clothing and shelter, Ours should be to seek after a Life of Righteousness, peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit. And the benefit of Seeking God’s Kingdom first is that All the necessary supports of Life will be added to us. This is a paradox!!!! How is it possible? God’s amazing promise!! The best way to get the things the Gentiles eagerly seek after is to seek the Kingdom of God first. We must have a testimony that All the material things we have were added to us as we eagerly seek the kingdom of God and His Righteousness. The food, clothes and house we have must be something the Lord added to us as we pursue after the Kingdom of God. O what a blessed change would it make in our hearts and lives, if we firmly believe this truth, that the best way to be comfortably provided for in this world, is to be most intent upon another world!!!
Don’t worry about tomorrow: Don’t worry about a future You don’t know. Don’t break your head about things that is beyond your knowledge. This does not mean we should not have plans about tomorrow or next year. We make our plans, but we don’t worry about it. Make your plans and cast it upon the Lord in prayer. If God wills, He will establish it and if otherwise, He will surely make you better plans. So why should you worry? Focus on Today’s duty!!!
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble: The world has been designed in such a way that each day has it own trouble. God is a good God. All good gift comes from Him(James 1:17).But God has permitted that each day will have a measure of Trouble in it so that His Children might be sanctified more. That’s why we are taught to Pray in the Lord’s Prayer that “Deliver us from the Evil one”. So each day has a measure of Evil against the Children of God. At times in area of Temptations, at times in area of seeking Honour, at times in area of Love of money. So Jesus says to us “Don’t waste your time thinking about tomorrow’s problem, Seek for Daily Victory in Today’s trouble first. One thing we know is that our father will not allow us to be tempted beyond our abilities (1 Corinthians 10:13). So let us come boldly to the throne of Grace that we may find Grace to Help us in time of Daily need(Hebrews 4:16).
Dear Friend, Don’t become Like the Gentiles who are ignorant of God and have no idea of the better thing to seek after. Cast All your worries upon the Lord. Go to Him in prayer and tell Him Your needs. Your Father knows that you need these things, but He wants to hear it from you. If you ever want to get worried, get worried about the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. Seek it first thing in the morning! Seek it first in every decision you make. When your needs and God’s Kingdom clashes, You must choose the Kingdom of God first!!! This is the Way to get All that the Gentiles seek after. It may look foolish, but those that have experienced it can tell you boldly that “All the things they have as material things were added to them as they sought the Kingdom of Heaven first” Focus on Today’s duty. Make your future plans but don’t get worried about it. Always remember “We don’t Know the Future, but We have a Father who knows all things and plans in advance for Us”. May the Great Grace of God write faith upon our Hearts to find our security and confidence in the Loving Nature of our Heavenly Father.(Amen). God bless you. Have a blessed day.
